For me it's just money. I've spent my budget on comms for the year and am tapped out. I threw myself into programming and gamemaking as well so less time for furry stuff.

I'd say it's time to treat the front page of FA like it's an ad you get to have for free but for only a few minutes. See if there's an easy way to get more color into your average picture even if it's just the background and it's flat or something to get people's attention. I'd been told in the past that my own art got over looked a decent amount because it just wasn't flashy enough that some people see line art and just ignore it... it sucked because that's all I really wanted to do was line art but it is what it is.

You may be right that the AI is just getting so good that people are turning to that but if this is what you want to do, you gotta do what you can.

Maybe what we can do is brain storm ideas that'll get you more attention like I dunno a web comic or something. Two kinds was definitely not great art at the beginning but people liked the comic so he got a ton of attention. This sorta thing worked for Hasbro when we were kids, cartoons made you love the characters, want the toys, and on average people wanted the real thing. Maybe it could work for you too.

Been trying to take 's advice and doing some 2+ tones for backgrounds to hopefully make them pop a bit better. Think they've been coming out better? Also trying to get a handle on rough coloring as well, both through pencil, inking in color, or digital color afterwards.

It does draw a bit more attention, even just adding two tone patterns to the background help does notably help.
