Autoimmune disease diagnosis

General
Crossposting this news from my Bluesky but it's as it says on the tin: on Friday I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that's been attacking my thyroid and causing problems all around. Turns out this has been present for more than 12 years, but it was assumed that the best thing to do was an annual watch for cancer since there were no leads besides benign little tumors.
As for why it was never caught for so long? I was just too poor, had student debt, and lacked any of the typical symptoms. Only recently was I able to have the means for a new doctor who was able to order specific blood tests and gottem.
Those who have been with me for a long time know that my health issues have always been a struggle. I'm not the greatest with being fast or present when my energy is all over the place and it seems like nothing went anywhere (diet, routine changes, discipline, counseling, bruteforcing it, etc.) The news is unfortunate, but I'm relieved to have the closure in knowing why everything kept happening the way it did. And forgive myself knowing I did a lot even with an untreated handicap on my shoulders, but now I need to take it easy on myself. I'm deeply grateful for everyone who has been patient & supportive with me slugging around before I had the answers.
Looking forward to being able to sort accommodations & figure out how to fund the routine specialist care I need to thrive. Not the end of anything, just a new start ♡
For now, I'm hunkering down for the fall season to make soup and watch mecha anime with the babe. I've gone through Evangelion and treading into Gundam (we got Gwing, G Gundam, Thunderbolt down, working through Unicorn now) - he knows the latter much better than I so I trust his curation of the list lol
Hope you all have been well with the holiday prep season on the way :>

I'm really glad it's been finally diagnosed - better late than never, right?
At least now, steps can be taken to make sure things go as smoothly as possible. Just take things easy!
More energy to put towards drawing fuzzbutts once everything is settled
