Hey there fuzzies!
Back in June we mentioned purchasing some new equipment, and the time has come! Fur Affinity is getting a much needed hardware upgrade to help prevent issues like what happened in May. This wonβt prevent all possible issues, but it will help us lay the groundwork for the future by adding some much needed infrastructure.
Itβs been over five years since our last hardware upgrade. We are all incredibly excited for this and are able to afford to do this due to all those who helped contribute to the GoFundMe last year. Because of your generosity, we had the funds on hand this time to make this happen and we cannot thank you enough!
This upgrade includes an expansion of our backup storage for user uploads (effectively doubling what we currently have), a new server to increase compute and storage capacity, improved internal infrastructure monitoring, and additional bandwidth to help during peak times of usage.
There will be scheduled downtime when installing new equipment and we want to give users early notice to prepare for this. Our scheduled maintenance window will be Friday September 5th at 1pm ET (GMT-4). We are setting this for a three hour window and hope that everything will go as smoothly as possible. If for some reason our outage time goes over that estimate, we will be sure to inform you on our various socials and our official discord!

Though kinda sucks that I scheduled opening commissions in the 5th and there's no other social that supports my ass so, gonna hope for the best... π π π π π

as staff gave updates in what failed with the last update, I remember this very well as others do as well on my discord as well.
FA staff are already aware what accrued to me. and they ended it very fast

July-August I been having to deal with a lot of dark things due to a violent death threat on me, I was a very different fur in June. but I now ask you to please just leave me alone for now on and move on.

Good luck with the server upgrades! I've personally had way more than my fair share of after-hours maintenances not gone as expected... x3;

Somewhere I can trust to be updated as things go along with maintenance, that isn't Discord nor a social media platform. :3
A lot of us don't want to be involved in chatrooms and would have to filter out chatter and tons of unread messages we don't care about, when we just want to hear the official updates as they come.
Some of the conventions I go to similarly have both a general chat type thing, and a separate announcement channel, where the actual announcements and con-related updates are posted.
Just a suggestion, although one I'd strongly encourage! :3

I know there's the thing that prevents individuals from uploading too quickly but that doesn't prevent the mad rush of hundreds of people uploading at the same time.....
I'm assuming there is something built into the system that prevents the site getting overwhelmed with the mad rush ^^

Wuff's sincerely hoping it doesn't end up like Gilligan; he was planning on a 3-hour event too. Sadly, for him and the others on the tour, it didn't work out that way. *grin*

Assuming your issue is purely in hosting and not on the software you're trying to host. I can't help with that, sorry.
Ideally, there are some furry webrings out there that can handle these problems together, but I wouldn't really even know where to start aside from reaching out to Yuuk or hoping someone notices this comment.

So, yeah, need to find something that's affordable, as in, $150 a year or less, some way or another. I'm surprised there are so few furry site webrings these days, or if there are plenty, I don't know who to reach out to. What I need is one of these many tech-savvy furries that supposedly exist, lol.
