Help with the Next Story Project
General
I am confirming the revamped Emmet's Crew project will follow the same "interactive story" to the "After School" story it's based off. BUT (and it's a big one), I will need some help from you guys, in the form of "information and resources." I wanna think smart with this project and not harder with this project. It's going to be a big commitment, in which I'd like your guys' help to help speed the process, but in a natural and elegant way. So with that said, if anyone can help answer questions I've already got:
• Does anyone know a good website to publish the project? (I was thinking of Blogspot, just like the original source from where it came from. But IDK if there's a better website that can process it better.)
• Does anyone know a good program to help "map out" the different routes you can go? (I've played games like Detroit: Become Human, and I like how it maps out different routes and such. I just don't know good software that will help make one of those [I don't even know what those are called. Tree charts?])
• Does anyone know some good background pictures to use? (I do have one possible source: I have the BD rips of the Pokémon anime: from DP to XY, and I was thinking of going through those episodes and snapshot moments in the anime where the focus is on the background, but if anyone else knows a better solution or have better eyes to pinpoint a good background shot from the anime to the project, let me know!)
• Would you guys mind if the story was a first-person view, in the POV of Sammy? (I know it'd break the streak of the stories being in third-person, but I think if I'm following the "After School" formula, I might as well have Sammy be the character you guys will have.)
I'll post more questions if any comes to mind, but if you know someone that can help with information, I don't mind you sharing this passage with them. But for now: any help or advice is appreciated!

I don't know how well it'd serve for something with visuals, but one program that comes to mind is Twine. I haven't used it myself so I'm not sure what its limitations and strengths are, or how easy it is to use, but it's there. Twine games can be published on itch.io for instance, so that's one possible platform. There's also stuff like Ren'Py, which I'm more familiar with, but might be overkill depending on what you're thinking of doing. Similarly, I think you can host Ren'Py games on itch.io directly, so long as they're not doing anything overly fancy.
For mapping things out... Honestly, even just using an art program can do the trick, I think. Depends on how complex you want things to be. For websites, draw.io seems like it'd be able to do what you're looking for, though I haven't used it myself so I can't really speak for what it's like.
For backgrounds - I know of some VNs that literally just use photographs with some filters thrown over them as their backgrounds, lol. Googling royalty-free images and using those is a valid option.
A first-person story from Sammy's perspective sounds like it could be a lot of fun! :3c
I'd also be happy to lend my own assistance if required! Things like writing, scripting/programming (depending on the platform/medium you end up using), proofreading/playtesting, all that jazz. :3 This sounds like it'll be interesting, looking forward to it~ ^v^
My reply won’t be as long as your comment, but will it be alright if I note you some things? ^^ I feel like your experience will definitely help with the project immensely!
And absolutely, feel free to note me whenever! I've got a few projects of my own that I'm working on, so I might not be able to reply immediately, but I'll do my best. :>
You could probably snapshot some of the anime or games for their backgrounds. But I would recommend against it. Nintendo is kind of trigger happy when it comes to copyright strikes, and you just never know... Personally, I'd either make your own, or see if someone else would be willing to. It doesn't have to be super complex, like trace them from somewhere and/or leave them unfocused (It'll make your boys pop more anyway)
For first person... go for it! Maybe make exceptions if Sammy is being "handled" by another character, like After School does. But having the default be first person is fine, if that's what you want to do!
And yeah! I definitely took notes from that story, when the story would have the “camera of sorts” away from the MC, but if I were to have Sammy “handled,” just gotta think of a good “perspective” to go with, but seems like everyone’s giving me the thumbs-up on being Sammy for the story!
