Yeah, people are always asking me about how difficult they are in relation to furred rats, but other than that I've not had a problem.
I do notice they tend to get sick a lot easier??? So there's that, too. And if they get dry skin I rub them down with Olive Oil. They don't really like that but it makes their skin nice and supple.

I do have a vet that deals with small animals very nearby. They are experienced in rats, too, because the local 4-H has rat shows too. There are a bunch of people that need to get them checked before they can enter the show. So at least I know if I have any trouble there is a vet that I can trust nearby.
Hehe that last part made me giggle--- like a little ratty oil massage. I actually used to have to do that to my chickens when their combs and wattles got dry
