This another of the (few) mecha/naval arts i've tried to do ^^
This one has too a little of "political" theme being a rapresentation of the Second Battle of Yeonpyeong , one of the different naval clashes of the two Koreas in recent years (that it was 29 June 2002).
For the first time a ship of the Korean People's Navy managed to hit and sunk a South Korean vessel, and the loss (patrol boat n°357) was admitted by the enemy.
There are few details about the class of North korean ships, and after a bit of research i've found that they were Soviet SO-1 class, with weapons modified. The frontal gun of 85mm (in the picture it has the turret turned to the enemy) was the one that claimed the mortal hit on the SK patrol.
It's also interesting how ships of Kprean People Navy has lots of coloured badges on guns and weaponery and other little decorative signs in different points of the hull (and red/white panels with political writes).
Comments and opinions are extremely welcome ^^

The est sea border is simply contested by both of them. The naval border line was never agreed on the armistice and the waters are rich for fishing..
Both navies patrol the border and sometimes they clash...
This particular battle has contested/indecisive result: 2 Nk patrols vs 4 Sk patrols and 2 corvettes. The south admit that one patrol (the n°357) was sunk with 6 dead and 18 wounded. They claim to have damaged one Nk patrol and extimate to have inflicted 13 dead and 25 wounded (a bit exagerated number, considering how the total complement of the Nk patrol supposed to be damaged is only 31 sailors... and the ship was reported to have been able to sail away according to the South's official report).
The NK official news report did not mention causalities.

Sad, that's 19 too many deaths. They both need to chill; I know the South irritates the North as much as they irritate us, but if both sides keep pointing fingers, they won't make any progress. Personally, if I had to take sides I'd be with the South, although I know no side is perfect. It's the duty of the South, in my opinion, to stop any comments on the politics of the North. As the more developed country, the responsibility of peaceful relations lies with the South, and the North can hopefully follow.
Also, if the territory is so controversial, why can't both sides just agree to give it to America? Haha
