Master and Apprentice slowly circled each other on the practice field. Twilight had faded to night and the sky had exploded with stars, the cool of the night settling in. Just enough time for
"One more round, please Master!" the young fenneckitten pleaded.
"You haven't won one yet, kit. And isn't it nearly dinnertime?" his teacher teased.
His student pouted, and his stomach chose that moment to grumble at him. "Come on, just one, pleaaaaaase?"
Jay smiled, warm memories of simpler times flooding back over him, of another apprentice long ago…
"Alright, one more round." He raised Hero's Tale to a comfortable not-quite en garde position, and pulled a small book out from his pocket. "I needed to finish this chapter anyway," he said with a twinkle in his eye. "Now then, where was I?"
His student grinned, his massive tail twitching as if stirred in an invisible breeze. "Aww, come on, at least take this seriously!"
"What? I'm holding back. Trying to give you a fair shot."
"Oh, you are so going down."
"I'll believe it when I see it…"

Years down the line, the young kangaroo rat keyblade wielder has grown into a battle-scarred Master of his own accord. Now armed with the Hero's Tale keyblade and a lifetime of experiences, he takes young potentials under his protection and guidance as he trains the next generation of heroes, making sure that the story goes on, forever…

My first Kousen commission, and in fact his FIRST commission ever, so I feel REALLY special! I've been waiting for this pic for a long time, about two years at this point, really, since I first found this guy. I had a lot of fun coming up with this pic, and from what I understand he really enjoyed doing it, so I'm really looking forward to the next pic, whenever that happens…
