So, my prince character on Feila, the timid and frightful Willis "Twitchy" Bree, had an attempt on his life in a recent RP dealing with a war brewing between his country, Maze, and the Land of the Mustelids, Gawain. In the attack, his left eye was gouged out, his right paw was sliced off (though later magically reattached), along with a good inch or two from the tip of his tail and he had daggers stabbed into his leg. Add all of this one top of him being a mute who was the shame of his now dead (assassinated) family and you've got one pitiable 10-year-old. Having everything that could go wrong, go wrong at once has a way of changing a character's outlook on life. A scene was playing around in my head and the above sketch is the product of it. The two characters talking below are part of the War Council Prince Willis called together help with the war. And no, he's not wearing a dress, it's a night gown. They're in the medieval era and he's a prince. It's not cross-dressing.XD
They watched as the young prince descended the stairs in a night gown with the Maze Royal Crest embroidered over the heart. He had an eye patch over his empty left socket, his tail noticeably shorter and his right paw, the one that had been so rudely sliced off was furless from the cut-point down. There was something else different about him that the warriors, pirates, magicians and the rest could not pinpoint, though. His aura was different. The mouse stopped short of the bottom and looked up at a painting of his late family; it's most notable artistic value was that it lacked him.
Grumbling to himself mentally, Fidel leaned toward Dame Hawkins, one of the few he thought might relate to him given her logical mind and battle performance. "The most powerful fur in Maze is a mute, half-blind, partly crippled, emotionally and physically traumatized 10-year-old?" the priest whispered to her incredulously. "Right then...we're all going to go the way of the beast bulls at the end of the Bull-Fights."
"Look again, Santiago," the knight replied quietly, gazing up the banister at the youngster. "His face has changed. He's no longer afraid...he's angry and determined. That gives me some hope, however small."
