haha, i know that feeling! I've got an albino opossum and hes my prize for a few reasons; i love opossums, he was my first, and of course, hes albino! no easy to come by, considering he was roadkill!

Wow, sounds like a really lucky find! I can't wait until I graduate and have some extra money for pelts and awesome stuff like that. I really want to get a black bear headdress commissioned from a taxidermist on DA. It's like my life's goal right now xD

did you get them through humane approved means? I'm trying to find out where to get official humane approved pelts because I love tails and fur but I want to buy from a place that either sells from the dog food company or has animals who die from old age or injection and live either free range or domestic situations until old age.

As far as I know both were taken for population control. I'm not sure how they were put down though, because I got them both second hand through users on Deviantart. I know of a fox ranch that sells GORGEOUS foxes but they're really pricy and only sell raw(you have to have them tanned yourself) I'll try and find that link for you!

So apparently the ranch I was thinking of is redoing their website right now so I don't have the link. They're called Norther Myst Creations though, in case you want to save it and look for it later.

You may want to give this group on deviantart a look! They focus on ranched foxes, all of which are put down humanely and I believe their meat ends up in dog food and the likes =]

yes yes! he's simply stunning! between you and me, my glitch tail (aka my first tail) is a pure creamy white fox tail obtained through people who raise foxes in their home on a ranch (humane approved) where they breed foxes for SUUUUUPER fluffy tails. i'll have to post a pic sometime and show you, it's so rediculously fluffy. the only difficulty is that the only time i've seen them is at a steam con once. hopefully they'll be at the sakura con coming up

Ooooo sounds pretty! Yeah, you'll have to send a picture, I would love to see it! I buy most of my pelts second hand, I'll only buy a pelt directly from a trapper or a hunter if they have the right paper work and can prove it was put down humanely. I also have no issues with ranches. Most people think they're horrible places and all this crap but seriously, in order to raise foxes with good fur you have to treat them well lol! And as long as they're put down humanely and they're meat ans such goes to other things, I don't see the problem =P I've found some really pretty tails at my local renn fest lol

cool :) that and you also gotta keep an eye on how they were raised on ranches. some ranches are aweful (cages and what not) but that's why you do your research before generalizing. i'll post a pic now. measured to 17 inches!
