So, you use a Nikon as well. I currently have a Nikon D200.

nice i like it is my first dslr camera i only have a tripod for it and a 18-55 lens was looking at getting a 55-300 lens

I'm leaning toward getting the Tamron 18-270mm VC lens myself. (VC=Vibration Compensation)

ive been thinking of that too but i like the farther reach on the 300 and it has vr too

I do have a 1.4x tele-converter just in case I need to reach further.

i just found mine from a SAR tech demo

I was taking photos at numerous airshows between 2005 to present. Most were in the State of Arizona.

When getting new lenses, you should consider what you're going to be taking photos of. A prime lens (a fixed lens, ie. 35mm) will lend to getting higher-quality shots, while non-prime lenses are great for versatility, and non-prime also tend to let less light into the sensor due to the fact that the light coming in needs to pass through more than one lens.
