Memories oh bitter Memories how in life you haunt me...
to feel as though from long ago this pain comes back to taunt me...

forever was and forever still in my foxhole for peace to instill...
but as soon as I came out I knew, the pain inflicted I yet foresew...

different was my want for now...
but stopped in treaks and lying now...

the tear was through and through...
I wished to die this much I knew...

I lay and bled and hoped and prayed...
but from my salvation I did stray...

and yet I stand here as of today...
for I dragged myself far away...
