I meant to comment on and fav this last night, but I got distracted by painting and forgot. Argh. This is heartbreaking in the most beautiful way, and it's gorgeously detailed.
Emotion just pours off of it. That background does amazing things for the mood, and it's beautifully rendered. I like the small trails of water running over the rocks, really tying the foreground into the background and making this a really unified piece.

Ooh, thank youuu <3 It's really inspiring to hear that from you, since I'm just starting out on painting and environment practice! I used to draw nothing but characters so I really feel like I'm lacking in the background and ambiance department, haha!
