Catnip in powdered form... as it was first created. Awesome. Benjamin Franklin once said. "Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy." I made a batch of Catnip beer that was VERY minty and refreshing. Only drawback, or well, curiosity that kept people demanding more, was the tendency to cause vivid dreams. I am a scientist and I didn't really do a proper study but the correlation was startling.

Ooh, catnip beer! Hmm... I wonder how catnip would work as a gin botanical. :D

Well, it is a mint. I'm sure the active ingredients would be captured through distillation. Don't know if it would be proper gin if you included it in quantities comparable to what I used for the beer because I used freshly picked and dried really potent stuff, and almost a full pound of it in a three gallon batch. It would really be it's "own thing" if you wanted a dose high enough for dreams, but, it would certainly lend a pleasant flavor in smaller quantities if that was the only interest.
