They don't. I'd not have another pet over them. They're the greatest, and I've had my fair share of a variety of animals over the years. I love them so much.
I'm very sorry for your loss. :( This one here is the last of my 3 hairless... one died from extreme sickness he'd just lived with his whole life and never could beat in the end (he was my first rat, and from a rodent mill I suspect... both the rats we got from this store died the same way around the same time... only a year old. It was tragic.) The second was my heart rat and he was something special, I've never loved another creature the way I loved him. He slept in bed with me at night, and he was old. I bought him as an adult, so I have no idea how old he truly was, but tl;dr, he was in the care of my friend and she never noticed he couldn't reach his waterbottle (he couldn't climb in his advanced age and she had throw away the house he was using to reach the water... which is why I had it in there.) and by the time I had got him back his old age couldn't handle the stress no water for 3+ days had had on his body and he died in my arms. I was fucking devastated. :| To this day I cry often when I think about him, and I wear his ashes in a glass urn around my neck.
AND I'M SORRY I RAMBLED THERE I so didn't meant to get depressing I just guess I mean that I understand. :C

I agree! So intelligent, curious and sweet..
And I'm SO sorry for your losses :( no need to apologize for rambling. I understand completely. Your rats all sound like such sweeties. I wish rats lived longer... I'd love to get a few more hairless rats some day but ugh as you mentioned - the places where they are can bred, pet stores etc can be atrocious. Maybe if the time is right I will look on petfinder/adopt some - when time allows me to do. I don't feel I have enough time to adequately give more pets all the love they deserve. But it's so hard losing a pet, like losing a child really.
