A large ham is someone who overacts by CONSTANT SHOUTING and DRAMATIC GESTURES! These people will GRIND scenery to fine dust and their lines will be uttered WITH! ADDED!! EMPHASIS!!! Their first line could be replaced by: "Did somebody order A LARGE HAM?!" (Try it at home; great fun.) Some examples of large hams are: Dr. Eggman (Sonic Series), Doctor Doom (Marvel Comics), Vegeta (Dragon Ball Z), and Calculon (Futurama), though there are tons more. If a character's performance makes you think "My god, tone it down," then that's a large ham.
