Baby folkins are created when a pair of adult folkins pluck some of each other's feathers and fur, and tie it together into a bundle. They must also create a mixture of two liquids and a small amount of an ingredient of the parent's choice. This can be most anything, from stones, earth or plant material to bone, foods or even feathers or fur from another folkin, but it must be reduced into a ground powder. The 'father' folkin is in charge of grinding the couple's special ingredient into powder for their mixture. The two liquids required are water and a few drops of blood from each parent.
The bundle, along with the mixture, is then swallowed by the adult wishing to be the 'mother' into a special pouch which is connected to the throat. There, the components will take the form of an egg over the course of four months. After that period of time, the egg is regurgitated by the 'mother' folkin, and the parents will take turns incubating the egg for another month before the egg, if fertile, hatches.
The bundling and mixing of components must be done at specific times and in specific places to ensure the greatest chance for a surviving egg.

(now you know why they have such big mouths)
