This is Twister of Safari's Sanctuary, our 600lb male Bengal tiger, although he probably has some Siberian in his heritage somewhere resulting in his size. Twister was abused in the past and the result is he hates men, particularly those wearing baseball caps, sunglasses, or beards. When I took this I was with one of our new volunteers who Twister seems to like but because he's a guy he was still a little uneasy, but he was being friendly and a teeny bit snarly at the same time.

Even though he's lived with us for over ten years since he was mistreated he still remembers. We also have a younger tiger, about seven, who's previous owners teased her with her food when she was a cub and she is still really aggressive with her food, even though no one in their right mind would ever try to take her food now.
He'll probably never forget totally, I guess that's an adaptation animals have to help stay safe. Like how most animals don't mess with black and white striped animals with fluffy tails once they get sprayed once. But he gets nothing but kind words now, except the occasional hatted man that comes by on a tour and annoys him.
