A fan over on DA had a neat idea to promote the Ratha's Creature graphic novel Kickstarter - draw a piece of fanart a day! Only a few days left to contribute, and every dollar helps!

Here's Mishanti riding on one of the juvenile "rumblers" (Indricotherium, sometimes referred to as Paraceratherium) he and his fellow outcast-cub Bundi have tamed. Mishanti is one of my favorite characters, a complex and challenged little cat, he's also a hybrid of Named and a more sabretoothed species, which is why I gave him a shorter tail and heavier build. The prehistoric horses, based on Parahippus, are called "stripers" but I'm afraid the stripes almost disappeared when I reduced the image size.

The landscape is strongly influenced by the trip we took out to Ladismith, South Africa this weekend. It stormed almost all weekend and driving home there were some amazing thunderclouds and lighting effects.
