When I was but a wee lad, when I was actually short and my horns were but simple nubs, my mom used to play a video game called 'Zelda II, The Adventures of Link'.

For those of you who don't know, when all 3 lives are lost in Zelda II, a shadowy silhouette of Ganon appears telling you how much you suck.

However, for me, this was the stuff of nightmares. I loved watching my mom play this game, but when she only had one life left, I would have to leave the room, since those fucking octoroks *ALWAYS* shoot god damned rocks at you, causing you to fall into lava/water. I could not risk gazing upon the visage of fear incarnate. That is not the face of a mere video-game villain; it is everything wrong with the world, where each pixel represents a dark chapter of humankind.

I eventually got over my fear of Ganon, and it only took me 12 years to beat this game.

Fun fact: I drew myself wearing my favorite t-shirt of this era in my life. It was gray, and had a red star on it. :>
