I would agree for the majority of people. I like to think of myself as the exception, since I was a vet tech and a veterinary student - plus I knew exactly what I was getting myself into when I got him, unlike most people! I own my own home and he has a good setup in a closed off room so he can't escape, even if he gets out of his enclosure somehow. (and I'm not going to let him go in the Everglades!)
People love to villainize what they fear and don't understand. Trust me, they make great pets for the right people. You'll hear more horror stories about snakes because its more fantastical but in reality way more people die from dog attacks than serpents and the majority of snake related deaths are from wild snakes, not captive ones. Sorry, I'll step down from the box, just like to take the opportunity when I see it to calm down the snake rage :3
You're correct, I'm sorry if I came off a little heated, it wasn't intentional :3 Irresponsible snake owners give everyone else a bad rep, I would be for people under a certain age having to take a certification/training class before buying a mid-large constrictor type serpent. Might force them to consider the heft of the decision they're making ;)
