Overheard at a Best Buy
I went to a Best Buy today to look at tablets to replace my dying netbook and get ideas on prices.
Its also very cold and raining out.
I watched this tiny bit of drama while heading in the store. No, I didn't see them enter the store while I was in there.
I had to quickly sketch this out.

Screw that shit! She would have received a paddle to her ass! Easily felt through denim. Then anything electronic would have been removed form her bieng, and room, and LOCKED UP! Until such time as she can learn to properly communicate, and negotiate such requests.
My oldest is 18...and she knows damn well that if she wants something. She better take the sweet polite method over anything else period.

I thought a great idea would be to have an isolator switch in the circuit box for the childs bedroom, so when you send them to their room only their light works. Also something similar with the internet connection, be it wired or wireless :) Either that or they have to spend their time in the most boring room in the house, not very productive though I'll admit.
By beating do you mean spank, or as in hitting with a closed fist repeatedly? Some parents never knew the difference, some still don't.
I agree by all means that there has to be some physical element, but so many parents just use it as an easy way to discipline their kids and don't make the distinction between a small infraction and a big issue, it's just 5 across the eyes each time.

I seen the same kind of thing up here too... I think this is what you get when parents try to be their children's friend and not their parent. We also have to many kids and people as a whole think they are owed something for nothing.
I want to know why didn't he pocket the keys when he got out of the car?

I can't help but wonder what kinda crappy parenting has lead to the kid thinking that this would be an effective method to get what she wants not to mention the fact he left her unattended in the car with the keys in the first place. Any guesses as to how old the brat was?
In any case hope she gets denied excess to all entertainment based technology for at least 2 weeks to 2 months depending on her age (time seems to pass much slower when you're younger).

This is why I am very picky about the guys I date. If he starts agreeing with me everytime I disagree with him and tries to pamper me then how would he have any kind of backbone against his daughter.
If it were my daughter though she would live under the threat if she EVER acted like that, she would never get another thing from me as long as I was alive. And believe me I would stick to that.

I'd be calling a tow truck, getting the car unlocked & making that little boardy little monkey pay for the unlock fee out of her future & current allowance, ground her for a week, take the keys away & threaten to leave her to take transit home as well as actually doing that if so. Also, why the hell does she have keys in the first place?
Heh. It truly IS sad how dependent/demanding/reliant we have become of our microwaved internet/celluar/wifi/conveinience society. I fear the day when that huge non-mobile infrastructure (towers, transmitters, & T-1 lines, etc.) collapses and renders all these little electronic bricks useless. Think about it.
You know, it's a good thing I don't have kids, nor want to have any. Mostly because when I was growing up, I had a father who was abusive, and I know that deep inside when pushed really hard I can be as nasty and abusive as he was. I've tried very hard to keep that part buried in concrete for good reason... and would never want to inflict what I went through on anyone else. Having said that, I have to wonder what it is with today's kids that they can demand whatever they want. I usually had to go out and earn whatever I wanted, and pay for it myself as I knew my father wouldn't. But today, no, kids act like we're abusing them if we don't give them a smartphone or an iPod touch, or an Xbox, or a new computer...
