I have an addictive personality, so I've tried very hard to stay away from any that's obviously harmful addictions (drinking, smoking, drugs, gambling, etc), cause I know they'd be my downfall, sadly, things that you wouldnt think are addictions have caused me some issues, so I know how ya feel :\

yeah, people can get addicted to ANYTHING *cough*internet*cough*. it's just something that can happen to anyone, but for many it can destroy their lives or even kill them. i'm still paying for my stupid teenage days!

That's the worst thing about addictions, that they are always there....

i like to think of it as a bittersweet comfort. the feeling of something always being there, you're never alone, at least

Yeah, it's nice to think of it like that....but mine is wickedly dangerous, and I'd get swamped by all sorts of doctors and never left alone again. That's not very fun either.

A lotta addicts say, "I can quit anytime I want, I just don't want to!" Makes me wonder how many of them are telling the truth. Sometimes, especially when you're alone, it's nice to know there's at least *something* you can turn to that'll make you feel better.

yeah, exactly. it's like anything in life, you say to yourself "oh, i can do that no problem" but going through with it is a different story.

No, I mean like, I think a lot of addicts could quit if they had some kind of genuine incentive to. Like, it's not the addiction itself that's holding them back so much as the fact that the drug is like a security blanket. It makes them feel better, it's always there for them, never criticizes them or tells them how to live. It's not much, and it may leave you fucked up, but it's better than sitting around alone and sober with yourself.

A. Get some soda and snacks, shit I really don't need.

B. cling to sports lol

Both can be bad, the soda and snacks aren't exactly healthy, and clinging to sports, well...it feels like that's the only thing I can talk about at times lol
