OK I messed this up while working on it, And will probably rework this, but I'm gonna post it anyway. For those who don't know of "Pogo" you really should. Waly Kelly's what got me into art, and is still probably my favorite of all time. Thanks, Mark. I, too, think Pogo was/is the best in comic art (probably better than any animation or comic book). I had to break out all my old Pogo books to get reference, and it's always well worth it. Just waiting for Jeff Smith of Bone to get those collected Pogo books published, then I'll be happy.
Paaawsooome! I love Pogo... funny that some of m'fav characters from that strip were 2 of the smallest... the two lil' bugs Pogo used ta read fairytales too... Lil' Emily (the smaller of the two, was so small her speach bubbles only had lil' dots ta show she'd said anythin' an her bigger bug brother would interpret whatever she'd said! hehehe :)
Razzle!! It's good to know that I'm not the only anthroartist who still remembers "Pogo" by Walt Kelly (not to mention the revised versions done by his surviving younguns, and - later on - by some other cartoonists). Anyone feel like a rousing chorus of "Deck Us All With Boston Charlie"?
