It was just Brandon and Conrad together in the digital forest. Both were eager to finally meet some digimon, and hopefully call one of them their partners. It was still mid-afternoon, and the two were wearing down from walking through the woods all day. They decided that it would be for the best if they just sat down for a while, and let their legs rest.
They looked up in the sky, and saw the earth, and its many streams of data coming to and from the world they were in. There was always a sense of insecurity from those data streams, but they were smart enough to keep their distance from them. About a half-an-hour passed before they spotted one in their direction, so that was the time they started off again.
Brandon and Conrad were both ecstatic trying to find the digimon hiding all over the world, but as for now, nothing was appearing. They just continued on their trek, hoping for something friendly to come out and meet them. All around, they could hear noises, but never could they identify where they came from, or what caused it.
Eventually, after hours of walking, they came out of the forest, and stood on the beach. They looked out over the coast, and saw an endless ocean. It was crystal clear, and not a sign of murkiness anywhere. But still, no signs of a digimon. It was kind of depressing being there so long and not meeting, or even seeing, just one of them.
Conrad sat on the sand, and sulked onto his knees, while Brandon just kicked some sand and rocks around. It was very quiet between the two of them, and now eve the unidentified sounds had stopped. They just looked out at the ripples of the open ocean.
Out of the forest, they heard the rustling of leaves, and out popped a digimon. The koromon is hopping as fast as it can, and is clearly terrified. Excited to see the digimon, they run after it, but it is too fast, and it escapes their sight.
They were sad, but now they had something to look forward to again. If they saw one, they would see many more if they looked in the right places. Brandon stated that they should start looking again before night, or otherwise, something might happen. Conrade agreed, and the two marched back into the woods.
Laughing to themselves, they forgot about the koromon. Its fear of something escaped them, and now they were happily walking through the woods again. Nothing could put them in a sour mood now, and they couldn’t be happier. But they were in for a rude awakening.
Now they knew what the koromon was running from. One of the data streams was heading their way, and very quickly too. Conrad and Brandon turned around, and sprinted the other direction to get away. Now it was just a race against the stream, because they didn’t know what would happen if they got sucked up by one.
They were running for their dear lives, hopping over branches, and ducking under the leaves, The stream was gaining distance on them, and they were only ahead by a narrow margin. They came to a branch at an awkward height, and they could neither jump nor duck under it. The two crashed, and fell on their backs. They could not get up in time to get away from the stream.
The two awoke inside of some kind of temple. There was no clear entrance or exit, but it was only a lone room, decorated with pedestals and columns. Over each pedestal, a light shown, each flashing a different, illegible symbol. The two were trapped inside the suspicious room until they found a way out.
Conrad circled the room a few times, testing the walls for a place that they could get through. He searched high and low, and any other places that he could reach with his arms. Inspecting the columns, and walls, he tirelessly searched for an exit. His efforts were in vain, and he gave up looking for an escape.
Meanwhile, Brandon pondered over the pedestals inside the room. The symbols illuminated above each one were quite curious, and he wanted to find out what they were for. He held his hand up to the symbol, but he couldn’t quite reach them, but he was close enough to feel the heat coming from them.
He wanted to get closer to the symbol above his head, so he looked for something to climb on. He spun around, and saw that there was a pedestal beside him, that appeared to be in just the right position to get him within reach. He put his foot up, and brought the rest of his body up on the stone slab.
Conrad saw Brandon’s endeavor, and figured that he was onto something. He thought that there might be a way out inside of any of those symbols. They couldn’t be there just for decoration. This was a solitary room after all. He used the same idea that Brandon used, and stood on his own pedestal.
Brandon was getting his footing for a jump, when he realized that the symbols were glowing brighter than usual. The intensity they glowed with nearly doubled from only a moment ago. He forgot about jumping for a moment, and tried to figure out what cause the symbols to change. He contemplated any possibilities, without any need of urgency.
Conrad look at Brandon with a sense of disgust. He was trying to find out how the lights worked, instead of finding a way out. Somewhere, there had to be an exit that allowed someone in and out, because there wasn’t just going to be a random room in the middle of nowhere.
Conrad jumped, and swiped at the lights trying to find something to hold on to. Beads of sweat rolled down his cheeks, as he repetitively flung himself into the air. He was breathing a bit heavier, and his legs and arms were getting a bit weary of him, so he sat down to catch his breath
The two of them were idle on the pedestals in the room, and still nothing seemed different. There was a silence between them, and they were just plain frustrated. Trapped in a room with nothing just didn’t make any sense to them. There had to be some meaning to the symbols, or anything else in the room
Somehow, with no warning whatsoever, they two were sealed into their pedestals by a wall of light. They couldn’t pass through the red and gold luminous that surrounded their platforms. It was a phenomenon that even the day they just had couldn’t prepare them for. They tried to call out to each other, but nothing could push out of their prison.
Then the strangest thing of all happened. The ceiling above their prisons opened up, and some sort of egg was lowered down to them. Both were different: brandons was red with a single spike on top, and Conrad’s, a gold plated egg with wings out the top. In awe from the eggs, the two took them. Until suddenly, the hatched, consuming the two in a blaze of light.
In the light, it was still possible to make out two figures, but details were unable to be defined. Both Brandon, and Conrad were being reshaped, on more drastic than the other. Conrad was hunched over on all fours, while Bandon was getting taller, and more streamline. Both were changing in very different ways,
The light was invisible to the both of them, and they could see their changes perfectly. Brandon’s skin was turning a light blue, covering the entirety of his body in a matter of moments. A tail ruptured from his backside. He saw his hands and feet turn to claws, and become armored with red flame-print plates. The same went with his torso, and the plates were found there too. Power was surging through him, and with each pulse, he felt himself change more.
His head was reshaping, more reptilian if anything. His ears migrated to the top of his head, before stretching themselves out. HIs face pushed out slightly, making a bit of a snout for him, and finally finishing his new skull. Now, similar plates were fashioned in the shape of a helmet for him.
Conrad’s skin was quicly turning orange for whatever reason. His arms and legs were bulking up slightly, and his torso thickened. He supported himself on the hands and feet that were becoming gold plated hooves. A tail of long white hairs fell from his backside, and flowed out. His neck was elongated, and fit into an upper chest plate of the same gold.
Conrad’s face was restructured, turning into a more equestrian form. The idea of him becoming a horse-like creature was absurd, yet it was becoming his reality. Two bat-wing-like ears sprouted from the top of his skull. Just like Brandon, a golden helmet covered his new face.
The walls of light subsided, and the two stepped off their platform. They got their first looks at each other. They had become digimon, Brandon into Flamedramon, and Conrad into Pegasusmon for that matter. They two were overjoyed. Why be the tamers of the digimon, when they could be ones themselves.
Amazed with their new bodies, the thought came back. The memory of being stuck inside the room. Though a little depressed at first, they remembered that they were digimon, and powerful ones too. Brandon gave Conrad a look of determination, and Conrad gave one in return.
The two stared at a point in the wall, and used whatever attacks they knew to knock a hole through it. As the smoke cleared, a pile of rubble, and an opening back into the digital world presented themselves. Smiling, Brandon the Flamedramon, and Conrad the Pegasusmon jumped into the forest once again.
