I haven't posted anything in a while and since I really love him I figured I'd share some of my photography of one of my dolls. And featuring a bit of another one.
All bones/feathers/furs/etc. pictured are real and were procured in a non-cruel fashion.

Lol it's okay, there are so many terms ORZ
Yeah, a lot of faceup artists do use airbrush paints but you obviously need to have an airbrush for it. It's more expensive so there's also a lot of faceup artists that do everything with pastels, paints, and other tools.
I heard that Hiritai sort of disappeared though and had a bunch of people's dolls' heads for faceups and never gave them back :x
