Not sure what part it serves but I added it anyway because it took up some white space and actually looks pretty cool. Maybe itts a powersource or something that keeps the platform from overheating too much.

Ah, part of me was wanting to go link fed but I suppose if I can't get the gun ever drawn with a link feed I'd have to give in and go with a drum.
As for rate of fire, i like to think that its not too bad on rate of fire, a lower rate of fire would allow for better handling and it not try and run away from the shooter.
