This is one of my three layouts (two are N scale 1:160, and one is Z scale), and my most recent, having finished it about a month ago.
You can run two trains at once and it has both a passenger station and a freight station. One loco is classic steam, the other is a "Shay" locomotive.
Lighting is LED, and the Christmas Tree is the center is fiber optic and removable.
(they're a *tad* blurry, but were the best I could get).

Lots of detail for such a small scale. Beautiful work!
There's something so romantic and soothing about building and running model trains, IMO. Brings me back to a simple, happy time in my life. ;o)
Thank you so much for posting these pics. It's very cool to see stuff like this on FA. ;o)

How do you know that Captain Picard chooses 1/160th for his modeling? At the end of every show, he'd point at the camera and say, "N Guage!"
I'm an N Scaler as well. Northern Pacific Railway, late 60's my preference in the Cascade Mountains of Washington State. I've built too many layouts, including a 12x20 public display layout I donated to a museum. I've written articles for magazines and done my share of reviews and model photography gigs. It's a whole 'nuther world of creativity. I'm not surprised to find more anthro artists who are model railroaders too. :)
For years my handle on GEnie's BBS system was FERROEQUINE.

NTRAK was fun too.
I keep thinking I want to build a shelf layout since I love switching and operation. I'm halfway tempted to change scales (aaaaaaaah!) and go to HO for a self contained shelf switching layout so I could do handlaid trackwork. That was fun in the past. Do something with the Timesaver included.
So many things, so little time.

I'm waiting to clear space in my basement for mine.
Only thing is I'm into O Gauge, so I have a number of engineering challenges before me :)
On the other hand, I did get a test track set up in my living room to test-run various equipment, documented on my YouTube page

It was a limited edition of 2000 sets by Lionel. It's got motorized doors, pantographs, and coaches that tilt themselves in curves above 30 scale MPH, not to mention full digital sound from both locomotives, co-ordinated through infrared links between cars.
It also lists for more than a couple of grand with all six cars. I saved for more than a year to get mine :)
