i adore pits, they have the sweetest faces of breeds. (okay, so all bully breeds do, i adore them).
but pit bulls get such a terrible rap. and it dumbfounds me everyday when i see people say things like pitbulls are known for turning on their owners, they are midless killing machines, their jaws lock, the reason they're so vicious is becasue their brain keeps growing and the skull stops.
seriously people, wtf. it makes me so angry. and the media does nothing to help them. did you know that i've come across a story of a labrador mix that attacked and maimed someone (i cant recall if it was an adult, elderly, child etc) and the news people labled it a pit? and the idiots showed footage of the clearly lab-retriever mix (looked like a labxgolden) and when the forum i was on pointed it out, they TOOK THE VIDEO DOWN and still left the 'pit bull mauls' title?
yeah okay.
and for the record, this is my most favorite pose of menz haha. sexy arms & back muscle... i did this as a warm up for last night and it turned out not super gay so.. win win.
i'll probably have a lot more pits in the future.
and i think i've read that the rose cut on dogs isnt very good for them? though i havent done any further research, i drew it here because i find the rose cut attractive one pits. not that i dont love a big floppy ear though

like a little too long above the elbow? when i was drawing it prior to color, it looked a lot more defined, and had i room i would have drawn him holding himself up on something because to me its not going to have that forward look to it without doing some sort of activity.

It actually is the breed to some extent, I know no one wants to hear that, but pits are naturally dog-agressive and NEED special handling and training to make them good doggy citizens.
But it's still the human's responsibility, if you raise a dog that attacks, your fault, not the dogs. They can't help what they were bred to do!
As lovely as cropped ears are I much prefer natural because cropped ears are associated with a fighting dog and pups can die during the procedure.
I love the pit smile, oh geeze, they're so precious.
Anywho, I love the face on this and the outline/splotchies around it. I would so be this guys friend.

oh yes, definatly. i deleted the part where i was going to mention about how the fact that they are a terrier gets forgotten so when they do act as terriers do, they get in trouble because they are such a large dog. terriers have a high prey drive naturally, so combine that with years of fighting, it often leads to problems that most people are not capable of handling. but its so funny people talk about how they turn on their owners when, originally, any dogs that turned on their owners in the early dog fighting era, they were killed. the owners bred dogs that they could get down into the pit with and not have to worry about being attacked. so clearly if any dog 'turns' on its owner it only leads me to believe the owner abused the dog or did something incredibly stupid it woudlnt have done were fully understanding of pits & terriers
i like natural ears a lot, but depending on the cut, i dunno. it does look like a rose and that's why i find it cute.
i would love to be one of those people that could have a pit, but sadly i'll probably always be a multiple dog person.

I had one for awhile, great dog, I just watched her while her owner was out of state for a while.
She was only one or two, VERY high energy. I have a german shepard (he was about four or five at the time) and they'd play in the back yard, we had to cops called on us once but then they came and say that it was just two dogs running around like dogs do. We have an old pom/sheltie mix and she'd try to play with her but she'd snap and that was the end of that. I was surprised by how well she got on with the other dogs.
Amazing dog, I wish I didn't have to give her back.

I love Pit's great child dog actually. They use them as therapy dogs in my town because Lab's are too hyper and small breeds bight too much. I've never met a more gentle dog then the one female they have, we work her with disabled children and she's a sweet heart. She puts up with things that I've never seen a dog deal with before as well, one child had a fit and all but yelled in her ear and instead of retaliating she plopped her butt down on his foot and wiggles it around until he calmed down in a laughing fit.
They have such wonderful faces but yeah, the rape they've gotten is sad. All breeds have their quirks but its absurd the things that people blame on pits.

8n8 that's so sweet. i know they way they move and wiggle and the sweet things they do is characteristic of them all. gah. we had one when i was a kid and he was a big fat sweetie too. aww.
