Cut him some slack, he was scared out of his mind. For someone with very low self esteem, being approached by someone they deem out of their league is the most shocking thing that could happen to them to the point they'd have a heart attack and die. Though I believe in this situation, he wishes he was dead.
I'm waiting for her to point out how saying he's not good enough for her is basically saying she doesn't get any input. I mean with peoples tastes being so varied, you don't get to assume like that.
