Soldier’s Plight

Cold air crushing from all around
breath coming quick
with the steady pound
pound of a heart crying out
crying while it goes without
without a love felt down deep
deep enough to be felt in sleep
sleep that makes him toss and turn
turn and fall into the familiar burn
burn from a wound that will not heal
heal to save him from the wheel
wheel of life that controls his pain
pain that hurts him through the rain
rain that reflects his true gloom
gloom that makes him dream of doom
doom that will release his soul
soul that pains as he strives for the goal
goal to reach his one true love
love as pure as a white dove
dove that should mean peace
peace that wont come till the fight will cease
cease so he can return to his home
home where he will never roam
roam from his one true love
love like have never heard of


This one I wrote when my military career proved to be a bit of a hassle and started to ruin my relationship with my soon to be fiancee. It was a strange circumstance that I did resolve with my lover in a way. Heres hoping she will actually wait for me while i'm on tour in Iraq. *crosses fingerses*
