I can understand the feeling. A lot of people on here are just request hunters and once they get their free pic, they up and forget about you.

I need to start screening people so I don't get depressed when I do something cool and never hear from the person again. :C

As someone who does animations for free, I feel ya. I usually get some thanks, but others are just dumb and don't say anything.

I'm not saying this to be mean at all, but drawing something for someone and then expecting thanks for it is going to get you hurt.

Not trying to say that some recipients aren't grateful (though I'm sure there are a few that don't care either way)

You just have to consider that some of the people that you send free art to may be too busy with their own lives to acknowledge every single gift they receive; especially if said person is very popular.

Again, I'm sorry if this seems like I'm chastising you; I'm not trying to upset you, just offering some insight. That being said, I hope the best for you and I'm sorry that you feel jaded. Hopefully you get some thanks and gratitude soon, because you seem to be honest and I truly believe you deserve it. ^^ Don't stop doing something you like just because someone doesn't take the time to appreciate it thoughtfully, the only person you should strive to make happy is yourself! I mostly do it for fun-and myself. However I rarely seek peeps out to draw for. Most people ask me for artwork, if you can take the time to ask for something, you can take the time to look at it and at the very least provide some feedback. If you are busy say so-'I may not be able to comment on this later but I appreciate it!' anything is better than disappearing.

I honestly don't think it's unreasonable to expect some people will be courteous and some will ignore you after you've done something for them-however when the majority is dead space it can be upsetting and seem like a waste of time. Some peeps request things and I don't make them-but they have since moved on and don't notice. It makes me wonder who actually checks.

You are completely entitled to feel that way, and I agree with you- I try to look at it both ways, but it's still not right of someone to simply ignore something they've been gifted. I'm sorry you've been treated this way. D: I can't say I completely understand your situation, but I can relate, and I can sympathize with you.

Still, you shouldn't let it get you down. I know that's easy of me to say, you can't really stop yourself from feeling a certain way about it. There will always be ungrateful people in the world, just as there will always be people like yourself who just want a little recognition. If it makes you feel better there are still people who try to answer every single person that talks to them or does something for them; I have noticed hootaloo, king-crowned, toulouse, capree and several others try their hardest to make time for their fans.

I'd say you have every right to think that way.
If you are nice enough to do something for them, they should be nice enough to take the time to write a kind comment about the effort you put into it!

Unfortunately you're far more likely to have people want things and stuff from you rather than actually wanting to put in an effort to deserve it or to even thank you... I know how that is.

Had something like this happen to me once. It was for a girl I used to go out with and when I gave her the gift she said she loved it but turned around and basically said that she liked her friend's better because it looked better. The best part was that her friend's work was traced. Point is I can sympathize with ya friend. But eventually you'll find some people who are an absolute joy to work with ^.=.^
