I always forget how much fun it it is doing high-detail anatomy; brute-force drawing a figure from the skeleton up like I did here is great refresher on the fundamentals of "proper" figure drawing, something that I often play fast and loose with in my personal work. One nice thing I've found about doing commissioned works is that they give me incentive to reign in my whimsical muse for a while and do highly polished work, too. Normally I'm trying to get an idea down as fast as I can before it flies away or rushing to finish a comic page on post day, but there might be something to this whole "taking your time" thing after all. XD
