So after about a week I finally got this into a fairly showable state.
There's actually a whole lot of work left, but I need to get working on some overdue projects now.

I mapped these controls to my xbox 360 controller using GlovePIE.
Key.Up = XInput.Up
Key.Down =XInput.Down
Key.Space = XInput.A
Key.C = XInput.Start

Currently still trying to map the controls of my analog sticks.
