Haha, my first dickinvasion had to be some asshole who closed the portcullis it took me an hour to get round to opening (because I sucked) in Undead Burg. The Ornstein and Smough incident of trying MY FUCKING DAMNDEST to summon Solaire (because soloing that battle would make me tear my eyes out) and getting invaded repeatedly changed my outlook on life, robbed my house, raped my dog and cat, left me destitute, and offering blowjobs for Humanity in the lower levels of the Depths. The real Dark Souls does not start here. Not like this. No.

For a long time I didn't know the lower bonfire existed.
I ran from the upper bonfire to Queelag over 20 times.
This game gets easier the more you play it, because then you know where everything is and how to beat everything.
Was going through the painted guardian room meant to be hard? They all die in like one hit and they throw weak throwing knives.

I didn't know the Parish had a bonfire, that there was a blacksmith there, or that darkroot garden existed, at all, until i was told :v
No but having to do the scaffolding walk is pretty unnerving sometimes ok and it is just a huge inconvenience to have to do that ever more than once on a character

I went into Darkroot at level like... less than 10 and ran around scared of all the trees and stone giants and oops I accidentally started the Moonlight Butterfly fight. I almost won. I went through Havel's door.

No poise is fine but I have never ever not used armour. Catarina/Onionbro armour is the best.

hornet ring does extra damage. it's the difference between one-shotting an enemy and having to hit them twice

No, Hornet Ring is the riposte/backstab ring. It gives about an extra 2-300 damage, especially if you're using a rapier or something else with a critical modifier. Normal backstab might do 200 damage, with a rapier 500, with the ring, 700. Like that.
I do darkwraiting, tho, so I can't get my stats into the 40s. My main Darkwraith is level 26. Unless I run into someone with the Bass Cannon build I have a good chance of beating anyone of any levle.
And oh, you can just run through the catacomb. Suicide-run the necromancers, and take the various shortcuts. It takes like, 5 minutes to get to Pinwheel. In 30 minutes you can have the Rite of Kindling, the Gravelord Greatsword, and Tranquil Walk of Peace. Bump your Faith to 18 and there you go! You're basically set. I think I did that like 3 times this week with 3 different characters I am not even sure what to do with them anymore. Darkwraith?? I dunno.

Hah... you might aswell use a parry dagger if you're going to use your fist I mean it weighs like 0.5. I use a shield to parry all the enemies I can, but sometimes I just have to block.
I am one of these noobs who somehow ends up way higher level than he "should" be without even trying like I finished my first run at level like... 120 or something.
Why use a fire weapon instead of a lightning weapon then if you're gonna go elemental? People almost always have lower lightning defence and lightning only takes normal titanite slabs.

I have no builds I am the super high level guy with full catarina armour and an iron round shield or whatever other shield I use. Probably blood shield now. And I usually use a +15 Zweihander or whatever and probably use faith things now. I was in the woods recently though with full havels, havel shield and the grant hammer. That was fun. People backstabbed me but did say.. 1/3rd my health even with hornet ring. Then again I was in darkroot woods where a bunch of people are low level. Wrath of the Gods and the hammer's special ability, along with tranquil walk of peace and healing... they see me casting and they run close to get me because they think I am healing or something, then they get hit by walk of peace... then the next time they think I am casting walk of peace but I am actually healing all of my health.

Parry Dagger has a longer recovery time, but yeah, I did use the parry dagger for a while :v It's a cutie. My current darkwraith's ~Serious Mode~ uses Lightning+5 Ricard's Rapier in mainhand and Priscilla's dagger in the offhand for parrying/bleed. There's basically no attack in the game you can't dodge, even AoEs, and it's good practice and gets you to know the enemies better. Like. All the same I'd still prefer to have a shield if I'm running through the catacombs just avoiding everyone. I just generally tend towards not using a shield these days. I rarely miss it.

Lag is never a problem for dodging for me. if the person swings, you dodge. It doesn't matter how close you are or what direction you are facing :v it will hit if you do not dodge. Also the whip is un-parryable. Everyone ranks on the whip but the notched whip is seriously my favorite weapon in the whole game. I DO use a shield with my whip build, though, sometimes it does help to block a thing?

You sound too pro for me, I'm just some noob who spams one handed zweihander swings before people even get close (and most of the time they eventually run within range to try and hit me, they never think "Oh he just used ALL of his stamina swinging at air" and attack me then). People parry me sometimes, not sure how parry works online I seem to have to spam it and hope I parry the guy. Maybe my connection is just that bad.
Once I pvped whilst someone in the house was downloading. That allowed people to hit me with soulmass before I even saw it launched on my screen. It also allowed me to hit people with lightning/sunlight spears.
Faith is fun in pvp, hell it's almost a requirement when using the full havel+Grant hammer. Due to how slow the hammer is, and how heavy your equipment is, you WILL get backstabbed/hit just like what happens to the real havel all the time. You need Wrath of Gods/2 handed hammer heavy force attack to push them away, Heal to recover the damage and walk of peace if they just wont sit still. Maybe a few other things for more defence. Though havel shield has the awesome 100, 90, 80, 80 set so the damage you take is minimal.
(Oh and when I did that I cheated and had +10 havels oops sorry.) 550 elemental defences and 750ish physical defences iirc. Also used wolf ring so I had 161 poise because whynot.

you have to ddodge even when the person is not aiming at you a dodge it is on their screen an attack like if they wsing you dodge even if it is not at you it might get you anyway? that is what yhou must do

I was a sunbro for a ton of people I got to like, +2 covenant just by doing co-op. Some guy was even all "Thanks Onionbro!" I like doing lots of the bosses though and I am too high level for like, all of them... so I change my level, and then my stats according to that level, and my equipment according to the area so I can co-op with people~

I'm doing a Wanderer with an Iaito and Eagle Shield at the moment, Level 51ish? I fucked up with the starting items and got the 'this gives you a tiny bit more hp' ring, so i'm mainly using some steel ring that boosts defense with another that gives you a defense boost at low health and MAY JUST save you from death. I sadly Drake Sworded all the way up to Blighttown, upon which finding the Iaito I found I had a good quick weapon that only did slightly less damage. I have extremely little magic ability other than Pyromancy which I had Walthis tell me how to even get, god I don't even LOOK around Firelink at all ): I'm mainly leveling DEX with a bit of Strength and Endurance, seems to be seeing me through. Black Armor fullset too until I find anything better.

I take it there's a ton of places I can go, heck, I haven't even done the painting stuff in Awhore Longbow yet and numerous other little sub-areas that aren't neccesary to progress but have fun shit to get.

Your starting gift doesn't really matter beyond the first few minutes of the game unless you take master key which I wouldn't even recommend on your first playthrough anyway

RoPaF is kind of a crutch in a lot of ways and limits versatility. It's good on charcters you plan around it?? My current chars use Seance and Wolf for attunement slot and poise, and the darkwraith uses Havels and Dog ring so I can get the lightrollspeedroll and poise still. medium roll is something i only rearely do tho that is myh perfefence
Well I suppose full catarina with a zweihander and a shield, and maybe a light bow/catalyst on the side accidentily built around it. I am barely in medium roll territory thanks to the ring of favor. However I mainly used it for the extra stamina, which allows one or two extra swings, or more blocking. The extra stamina really really helps me.
I struggled to find what I should have in the other slot. Sometimes I put wolf ring sometimes I put steel protection ring... because really what do I put there? I started to add ring of sun's firstborn there because I started using miracles but Sunlight spear is too weak. It only does around 800 damage and it almost never hits in pvp... it takes up 2 slots and there are 5 casts. I suppose it would be okay if I could select it more than once though. I will probably eventually cheat in some duplicates of those because seriously I want more than 5 spears, it should be a thing that is allowed.

My guy is a wanderer too, and I never got drake sword. I just used.. hmmhm. Well when I was first in undead burg with him some guy invaded and dropped me items. He gave me a demon spear which was good right up to sens which then I changed to a lightning spear and ricards rapier.

I should have gotten like 14 faith and equipped heal it would have helped a lot. But I didn't use ANY magic until NG+. I used +5 Onion Armour the instant I saw it, I just love it.
