Came up with a neat lil concept for a scifi universe and well this guy here is my first representative of it. I'll do a breakdown down of it and his guy's species. Oh and I've included some subtle hints that things are not what they seem here. See if you can find any of them.
Archer Kelnester walked the halls of Vargo Station like any other day. He was on his way to class dressed in a school uniform sipping a beverage as he walked when he heard a friend call to him. Unlike him his friend had normal rounded ears and though his hair was lighter and he had a prominent brow. Despite the differences these two were in fact the same species. Homo Sapiens Novus. The difference between them was that Archer had a bit more Denisovan in him than his friend who likely had a bit more Neanderthal. Archer listened as his friend told him there had been some discovery made back on Earth about a large machine buried deep within the Moon. Archer's gold eyes brightened a bit his interest being peaked. History was his favorite class with science a close second. So of course this greatly interested him. he followed his friend to the nearest vid panel and they brought up the news feed and watched. A Picture of the Earth hung in the corner of the screen with the moon. But despite being called Earth this planet's continents didn't bare much resemblance to Earth's. Of course why would they? Even if you try for it plate tectonics aren't going to play out the same way twice. Arch listened as they talked about the sheer size of the machine within the moon which was massive and from what they could gather at least as old as the moon itself. Which of course meant that this machine was about 2.5 billion years old. Just an extra billion shy of the age of the galaxy and 2 billion shy the age of the universe. This fascinated Archer to no end. What could possibly have been around back then to place that device there or build it. They'd spread pretty fair into the galaxy now and despite discovering life spread through out the galaxy, a lot of it similar to terrestrial life, but so far nothing sapient and no hints of anything sapient. Arch wondered what mysteries this great machine might hold and what secrets it's study would reveal. Of course the young lad had no idea the how much it would shake the entire human race. At the moment he blushed a bit as he felt warm wetness spread in his pants before excusing himself to run off to the restroom lest he leak and a secret of his own be revealed to his peers. Archer groaned as he entered the bathroom stall and took down his pants looking at the soaked pull-up he wore. He'd been so distracted he hadn't even noticed he needed to go until he already had. If it'd been any more he would have leaned for sure. Arch changed thinking maybe he should try something more absorbent but worried that the extra bulk might make his class mates aware of what he was wearing. He sighed shaking his head. "I suppose wetting your pants is a lot better than than the what someone with Shalka's Syndrome experienced even just 200 years ago." Arch thought as took the fresh pull up from the stall's replicator and slipped it on after wiping himself. His syndrome caused neural transmitter levels to fluctuate. This used to mean the chance of dying as the signals from your brain night not reach your lungs as the fluctuations caused nerve damage. Arch did his best to push these thoughts out of his mind though as he pulled his pants back up hearing the chime on his pendant computer go off to remind him he had five minutes to get to his next class. The Mysteries of the universe and worries of the present would have to wait until after class.
Well hope you guys liked the pic and the lil story. ^^

Your over thinking I think. This is my own original scifi stuff so it has nothing to do with StarTrek. Ah heck I'll just come out and say it this guy isn't living in our universe. The clues I talked about were in the numbers and a few details. Notice how I talked about things not playing out the same way twice. Some of the numbers for example i stated the moon was 2.5 billion years old which means by extension so is the Earth. But look it up. Earth's actually closer to 4 billion years old which is near the age of this guy's Universe. Plan on doing a follow up pic to make that stuff obvious and explain it all.
So in a way you right. Alternate universe but I was hoping someone would come along and pick up on the details there. Guess I'm far too nerdy knowing the age of the Earth and universe off the top of my head.

nah its all good tho there are some similaritys to star trek and yet not. idk maby im just too much of a treki for my own good lol, but yeah i did pick up on the alt universe and that that there was a bit of a young aspect to the one in your story and perhaps we crossed over and started that one?????? idk an idea to add on i suppose.
