Just a short prologue of a small story with a bit of potential. It was written around the time that I was playing a FaceBook-esque game called Galaxy Life. The creatures depicted in this belong to the makers of said game.
Oh, and kudos if you get the obscure reference to a Pixar animated short. :3

“Starling One, come in.”
“Starling One here. Everything's working fine and we are approaching the planet.”
“Good. That planet we marked should be fine to colonize for us. Set up a forward base and recon the planet, see if it's good enough.”
“Roger. We are now entering the atmosphere. Heat shields are holding easily.”
“Alright, colony ships will be able to get through and–”
“AH! ION STORM! STEER CLEAR OF IT N–”
“Starling One! Starling One! Come in!”

“Get this thing under control!” the captain of the ship yelled out.
“We're trying but all the systems are fried! Even the propulsion ones!” one of the engineers reported.
“Then…try and land this thing as safely as you can.”

A small streak of light glided through the air, but instead of it being a shooting star, it was a falling object, streaking towards a small neighborhood. It narrowly missed the roof of a house, crashing into a drainage ditch in the back yard, slowly skidding to a stop in a dug-out trench, smoldering from the heat.

“E…everyone…alright…?” the captain asked, slowly picking himself up.
A series of coughs sounded out, the crew of the vessel gathering themselves.
“Yeah. Me and the other two Starlinators are a bit banged up, but just fine.” one member called out.
“Engineers are alright here.” another member reported.
“Good. Well, on the bright side, we landed, so we should see if this planet's hospitable to our kind.”
“Yes sir!”

“Uh, Starling recon here. We're in what looks like some kind of um…habitation unit. Place looks primitive here. Must be the remains of an ancient civilization.” one member of a recon squad reported, looking around the area of the house.
“Well, quite the find here. The boys back home will be happy to know about this.”

??? POV
Man, keep hearing some kind of jittering in my head, as well as something walking on me. I tried to ignore them as I slept, but they just continued. I groaned a bit as I started to wake, the jitter sounds stopping as I lifted my head up. When I did, I slowly opened my eyes, vision still blurry from waking up. I couldn't see clearly, but I swear there was an orange thing on my chest. Once my vision cleared though, my eyes snapped open, the 'object' some kind of creature. Apparently it wasn't alone since four others peeked from the sides, with another peeking from above them all.
They were a bit small, around the size of an apple, with orange skin and two little ball-tipped antennae sticking out from the top of their heads. The eyes of them were rather comical in size, seeing that it was around a fifth or six of their size. Each of them also seemed to have a pair of buck teeth sticking out from their mouths. Their hands also only had three fingers each, while they also wore some kind of suit made out of who-knows-what.
All six of them stared at me and I stared back.
I blinked.
They blinked.
One of them raised a hand to around where I figure an ear piece would be, then started a small jitter, which I could not understand.

“Uh…captain?” the lead member of the squad started. “We're not alone…”
