Left: Milnes Delavigne
Age: 26
Class: Scholar
Race: Beastfolk- White wolf
Magical Affinity: Electricity
Meet Milnes Delavigne, third in command in the Belasi rebellion. In the wake of Zenobia’s rule, beastfolk were been segregated by the Zenobian empire, deemed inferior and subservient to humans. While a rudimentary education and trade/craftsmanship training is allowed, higher education is strictly forbidden to them.
The Belasi rebels, of course, do not hold themselves to those standards. Milnes defiantly wears the scarf of the College of Healers, Sages and Luminaries. Although his training in magic and healing came from his fellow Belasi rebels, he wears the scarf as a statement of what he considers to be his rightful place. Milnes is both a healer and a spellcaster, tending to the wounded and casting paralyzing spells in equal measure. The element to which he is attuned is Electricity.
Unlike Kain, Milnes wasn’t born in slavery- his parents were part of the rebellion, freed from bondage by The Sparrow. As the third in command and the head healer of the rebellion, Milnes constantly worries about the welfare of his comrades, stressing his already earnest and concerned character. Although he has seen the death of many of his comrades over the years, he has never gotten used to the loss—to the point that he dedicated years of intense study to the relationship between the body and the ‘life spark’- that quintessential energy that seems to be the true focus of the individual’s personality. Through independent research and hardship, he will become one of the few scholars capable of performing the technique known as the “Sanctus”, which can re-unite the fallen body of a comrade with their life spark in combat.
His knowledge is also distilled in the creation of the secret recipe of Aqua Vitae, the water of life which can likewise revive a fallen ally--- provided there has been no irreparable damage to the body. This is, unfortunately, seldom the case with his fallen comrades, and Milnes desperately continues his search for the secret that will restore a dead body to its pristine state, so that the Aqua Vitae and the Sanctus can revive even the most mangled comrades and return them to perfect physical state.

Age: 19
Class: Virtue Knight
Race: Beastfolk- Fox
Magical Affinity: Light
Krieg is the last surviving member of the order of the Virtue Knights. The Vidalian natives were always interested in the history of the island, and many scholars tried to rescue the writings of some of the most important philosophers of the Sine Nomine, the civilization that preceded them. Over the years, the scholar Hirenicus pieced together the remnants of several tablets found in the many ruins scattered throughout the island, and found that they were prominent writings of the legendary philosopher Arissa, whose name survived in legend, but not her writings.
From her treatise on ethics, which was the only surviving sample, Hirenicus systematized a code that would become the code of the Virtue Knights. Under the motto "Virtus unita fortior," each knight pledged himself to uphold all of the Arissan virtues, specializing usually in the exercise of one above all of them. The virtues as detailed by Hirenicus were:
+The Clear Mind: Only through clear thinking may one identify the good.
+The Truthful Tongue: Speak truth when dealing with the virtuous and good, and protect it from its enemies.
+The Unshackled Spirit: Be the ultimate judge of your own self. Never let the thoughts of others weigh upon you solely because they are someone else's.
+The Industrious Hands: Always seek and strive to attain the good by the virtue of your deeds and your labor.
+The August Bearing: Be proud of who you are and what you do. Do not overestimate your worth, but also never sell yourself short- seek always to keep a clear vision of yourself.
+The Just Sentence: Always treat others in accordance to what they do, and mete out reward and punishment accordingly.
+The Inner Purity: Never betray what you know to be good, for it is the undoing of the self.
From Hirenicus' publication, an order of knights was formed and which lasted for several generations. For the duration of their existence, they served as the island's police force, and the Grand Masters of the order were often in charge of the island's codified laws-- which were publicly posted for all to see. Krieg was the adoptive son of one of the Grand Masters of the order, and he became a Page to Lady Radabast at the age of ten. When he turned fourteen, he became a Squire and seemed well on his way to attain full knighthood... when the Empire happened.
The knights had been accustomed to routing petty bandits and minor criminals, never a full-fledged army. Valiantly, they tried to hold back the Empire's assault... but to no avail, the knights were cut down one after the other in a slaughter. The entirety of the Virtue Knights were slain in one day-- all but Krieg survived. The young Squire carried his Mistress, the Lady Radabast, injured and dying into the mythic forest of Broceliande. Radabast had been injured early in the fight and so Krieg was not present at the final slaughter. Despite Krieg's efforts, the Knight died soon after from her wounds, but not without leaving her sword to Krieg after using it to knight him as Sir Krieg The Protector, the last of the Virtue Knights.
Alone and without an order to belong to, Krieg wandered the perilous Broceliande, completely despondent. It was there that he met a young mage in hiding by the name of "Z"... it was Z's innocence that first caught his attention, and it was the vile creature living inside the young mage that made Krieg decide that he would be his protector. Since then, the two have become inseparable-- Krieg's formidable strength serves him to protect Z's physical wreck of a body... but he also hopes that his influence helps allay the influence of Abraxas, and thus hopefully save Z's soul.
