Thanks! I'm having to relearn a good deal. On the Genius I could make smooth lines and be slow, if that makes sense. Rapid, short strokes. On the Wacom you can lay an even line at a far more relaxed pace. It'll take me a bit to get used to this, but wow am I loving it. <3
"On the Genius I could make smooth lines and be slow" I'm guessing that was supposed to be "couldn't"? If I understand this correctly, the Intuos allows you to draw smooth at a slower pace? If that's so, then hooray! I hate that I have to do my stokes so fast all the time on my Genius! The lines very often go all over the place when I have to do that and I'm abusing the "undo" button like a maniac! It doesn't have "the feel" of drawing on paper, it acts a little irrationally >:-/ If the Intuos gives more control when being a slow-ass, then it's just what I'm hoping for! But it probably is gonna take a lil' time to get used to, yeah :P
Sorry! Dragged myself out of bed and drooled on keyboard to reply, so not surprised I messed it up. ;) Yes, I /couldn't/ make slow lines on the Genius. The Intous allows you to move more slowly. I'm not doing too well at it yet, but you don't beat years of habit in a couple days. Keep finding myself doing the fast, short strokes when I don't have to. I purposely have to stop and slow myself down. :) I know I'll get it, and when I do things will be so much nicer!
Still can't get over how different the tablets are. I am still going 'Omg, that worked!' in making certain strokes. I am completely delighted in the Wacom. On the Genius I couldn't do swirly things. I'd make a curved line and it would flatten at points. Then I'd have to go back and painfully make corrections. >.< The Genius was awful, and I didn't even know it. First thing I did on the Wacom was try swirls and it was perfect first try.

That tablet can't come in my grasp fast enough XD I've been working on my comic entry for the Pro-Turtlecest contest today and I keep hammering the undo button, erasing the stray-end of lines and using all kinds of tools for corrections, it's so freakin' annoying! Sometimes I'm still tempted to do the lines on paper with ink, which is tons easier, but I so wanna learn to master this! I really have my fingers crossed that the new tablet will make it a lil' less frustrating ><
*Crosses fingers for you* I never thought the difference would be this profound to be honest. And this is with a tablet that's two steps below yours and several years old. o.o I love this Wacom so much! <3 It's half the size of the Genius too and I simply DO NOT care. It's that much better.
I hope you can get yours soon! Then you too can be going 'I've been doing everything wrong!' too. ;)
Sadly doing things on paper is not an option for me. I have no scanner. Buying the tablet was money I probably shouldn't have spent, but damn it's so nice. (I figured it would help me since I'm working now by doing art, and damn it does. I'll eat beans and rice for a couple weeks and happily!)
