So this is something different: awhile back I was also commissioned by a friend to do a series of illustrations for a slideshow presentation. It had me doing a number of things I don't normally do at all, and challenged me to figure out how to draw inanimate objects.
The idea for the slideshow basically revolved around saving money by implementing a new cutting edge energy-saving system. For this illustration, I was just asked to draw the different types of censors that were going to be used; a motion/occupancy censor that would turn off the lights and heat if no one was around and turn them on when someone entered the room, a censor that could tell if the windows were open and would thus shut off the heating/ac, and a thermostat so the students could adjust the temperature to their liking.
This one was also pretty challenging for me to get done, and IMO the one I executed the poorest. They were very simple designs though, so I'm not really sure how else I could have done this. I'm sure a better understanding or perspective and how to draw inanimate objects would have been really helpful here.
