I wanted to draw my nighthounds again but for some reason it turned into some insignia with one (Malikai) in it. This is heavily inspired by the fighter squadron logos in the Ace Combat games as well as the Foxhound logo of Metal Gear fame.

In this case, it represents a band of space pilots stationed at another world thousands of years in the future. The Nighthound is an intelligent native of said world and is known to be clever, yet fierce, which is reflected in the squadron's flying style. In the hound's jaws is an mythological device known as a "Soul Rod" that is said to have sucked the life force out of people and store it by sticking it into their bodies. The rod is considered appropriate since the squadron's reputation stems from the fact that enemy pilots would grow fearful and lose their efficiency after so much as hearing a "rumor" that the Nighthound squad is there. Yeah, very Ace Combat-esque.

Wow. So much backstory for one little picture. I may actually write a science fiction story surrounding that.
