Slinking through the undergrowth,
feeding,
observing,
learning..
a beast of pure disease.
Pouchmonster is not my fursona, but the species from which I get my pen name.
A mutated spin on the Tasmanian Devil, an animal which is currently facing a plague of contagious cancer, the Pouchmonster is a living collection of single-celled organisms - each independently functioning and self aware. They move as one, for the greater good, as they achieve more assuming this form than they ever could as simple protists.
However, some mutation along the evolution of this beast has deprived the cells of their ability to replicate. So when the cells wear out and die, as cells tend to do, the monster must feed. Pouchmonster eats strictly organic matter - not simply for nourishment, but also for replacement parts. The insides of Pouchmonster reprogram the cells of its food, allocate them to the damaged area, and have them assume the function of the dead cells.
Pouchmonster is also a contagious infection that spreads rapidly if not treated quickly. If ever encountering a Pouchmonster in battle, one must be careful to not let the beast break the skin. If the cells of a Pouchmonster rub off into one's bloodstream, they will travel throughout, causing a cancer-like infection. Desperate to continue thriving, the monster cells contaminate the surrounding flesh and slowly reprogram the victim's own body, until the victim is consumed flesh and mind. A Pouchmonster can be created this way. They may also breed through 'traditional' means.
Pouchmonster is still a developing concept, butI should have it finalized by the time I make a species model sheet. :3 The creature shown is specimen alpha - the first of many.
