Catbus description
Engineered pose; body of a core 7 clone pose, head of a donkey pose. Both generation 3 poses.
Boiled the body of the pony to soften the rubber, to make the rubber safer for carving the windows.
Carved the windows of the bus with a exacto knife. First time painting the inside of a pony, let me tell you. Painted the inside of the 'catbus pony' black, and gave it a leather interior with white and beige authentic leather. Painted lines on the seats with charcoal-colored acrylics. Mouse inside the bus is Littlest Pet Shop mouse that I've probably had since I was 9 years old. Glued a magenta pearl rhinestone on the mouse's collar, Krazy-glued the mouse in place.
Windows lined in black hemp.
Full body repaint in maple sugar tan acrylics, then a burnt brown pigment over top. Eyes and face are also textured/painted with acrylics. Krazy-glued two severed pony legs to the pony body, also painted them like rest of body.
Teeth in the mouth are white leather detailed in acrylics, Krazy-glued in place.
Light brown fur texture throughout body is inverted genuine leather, suede-side-out. Tail is also leather.
Collar is orange hemp with red leather plate with "Next Stop, Little Sister" hand-painted in black acrylics in reference to the movie.
Nose is also red leather. All leather on head is lined with brown hemp.
Whiskers are black medium-gage wire anchored inside the pony cheeks.
The four mice for the "head and tail" lights are oval-shaped pearl rhinestones painted in gray acrylics. Ears are a plastic clear decal also painted, eyes and noses are rhinstones. Tails are beige hemp. Glued to pony via Krazy glue, dealed in mod podge.
Satsuke, Mai and Dustbunnies description
With an exception of the white dust bunny, Satsuke, Mai, the blue dust bunny and the gray are all made from fakies.
All painting done in acrylics.
Fur glued to the dust bunnies, sealed with Artists Varnish sealant.
Outfits on the girls are hand-sewn from bias tape, ribbon, maxi piping, and authentic leather. Detailed in hemp and rhinestones.
Mai’s mane and tail are re-rooted in dollyhair in the color roasted almond.
Satsuke’s mane and tail are re-rooted in restoredoll hair in the color of deep cherry.
Sootsprite Description
Pony base is a generation 3 original pose.
Full body repaint in burnt brown acrylics. All images also painted in acrylics.
Word across the body is Japanese for “Totoro”, rest of images were inspired by the artwork of the beginning credits from the movie.
Cobweb ribbon trimming detailing throughout pony body also inspired by movie credit artwork.
Mane and tail are soot sprites! The fun little creatures that inhabit the girls’ house but exit the house when laughter fills rooms.
Used 3 different yarn/ribbon trimmings for the mane and tail. The soot sprites themselves are black cottonballs on yarn string, located in the crochet section of Michael’s craft store.
Glued little googley eyes to all the black cotton balls for the soot sprites! Was challenging, new, and fun.
