A project I wanted to do for a long time - a reptile without fur or fleece, just scales as they should be - hard, non-fluffy, spikey... Cuddling at your own risk :D
This is the with Worbla cast head, I used a model made from cley for that. Added spikes and teeth with forther Worbla. So much fun working with that stuff...
Up to now it took me about 12 hours - 3 for the basic cley model, 5 for all the tiny scales, then making a mold with plaster, casting and adding details another 4 hours... whew...

Never had problems up to now. But I would be a bit more careful with it than with other masks. Another technique would be to make the scales with cloth and glue, or with heatened plastic - but both of these techniques are way more complex and less flexible. But if you have time and patience, they are really cool :)
