This is part of The-Vol's collection.
The-Vol :"My taxidermy/bone collection as of now (beginning of 2013). It's quite small and humble, but all the more dear.
Most of these I bought from Finland or second-hand from other European collectors. As far as I know, none of the animals died for their parts only.
The picture only shows one of the partially mummified bird skeletons I have. The other is in so many pieces (head, torso and wings all separate) and delicate that I didn't dare to remove it from the napkin wrappings I keep it in.
Also, I forgot to add my small collection of various bird feathers in the picture. But they're just your basic found-from-the-side-of-the-road feathers. (Except that I also have a beautiful, almost perfect magpie tail feather. It's gorgeous.)
More photos of some of the skulls on my tumblr:
Finnsheep
Goat
Red fox
Swamp rabbit
Things I'd like to own
- A complete goat skull / female goat skull / Finnish Landrace goat skull
- Border Leichester sheep skull (If anyone has one, please show me pictures! I've been dying to see what it looks like!)
- European badger skull
- Reindeer skull
- Jacob sheep skull with horns (one can dream, right?)
- Wild boar skull
I'd be happy to answer any questions regarding my collection. (I'm not a taxidermist myself nor have I cleaned any bones myself, so I might not be able to answer that kind of questions.)"
