This is the Spallings ever reliable truck, Dora. It's a half-tracked hearse with a refrigerated rear compartment. I tried to go for a steampunk feel, but I don't think I quite pulled it off.

diesel makes a bit more sense actually for this, at the height of the era diesel represents, steam power was still going strong like steam powered naval vessels with more normal things using internal combustion like planes and cars

compared to now... itd be around vintage age i'd have to guess, so it'd be fairly modern now even

Possibly! But I don't know. The aircraft of their time are generally either zeppelin type airships, or biplanes.

who's to say that with their mastery of science and tech that they havent made aircraft engines like v10s or V12s

i've even seen late WWI planes built similar to a WWII one but with biplane wings

*gets an acetylene lamp that was fueled by water dripping onto calcium carbide* these lamps are very useful, the reaction between calcium carbide and and water makes heat and the light from the flame is clean, in a cold cave these can help keep you warm very easily and the light cuts through gloom better than a normal flashlight

the flame also makes soot and can let a cave surveyor mark the walls harmlessly
