So... I've been working on a new reference thing for Maple, because she could really use a new one, but I'm finding myself a bit stuck in some small areas. Hands in particular- under normal circumstances, I would stick with my usual 'mitten' hands, but I feel like they're just not doing it here. But trying to draw normal fingers isn't working out either; they seem to ALWAYS end up too short or too long or posed terribly or whatever. Though, since I did some semi-decent fingers up in the upper-right, am I inclined to do fingers for the other hands as well? Or should I stick with what I usually do, which is 'fingers only when necessary (like in the upper right), otherwise mitten hands', and just try and figure out how to do the middle hands properly in mitten form?

I'm also not sure how to handle her face in the rear shot properly either. Nothing I've tried seems to work 'quite right'.

A more stylistic change is that I want to try drawing smaller, simpler feet than I have in the past, primarily inspired by /'s chibis (seen here), but I can't seem to get those looking as nice as I'd like either.


Y'know... all that sort of stuff. I haven't had much luck trying to get advice in the past, but I suppose it's worth another try (and if nothing else, at least I can prove that I'm working on SOMEthing).
