so this is what it really looks like it must be complicated

with digigrade and the toe in front of the body there is a lot of force pulling the heal out of the leg as it trys to go plantargrade. the cable has to keep the footplate pulled against the heel that force has to then be distributed across the thigh when u stand straight your leg will also want to be pulled rearward

you know, if you design that in a regular brace it could be used for medical purposes. ie to help people with joint injuries

The Orthopedic ones are called KAFO Knee Ankle Foot Orthosis and are 1. only available by RX, 2 they are very expensive and they would not have the cable and extension for digigrade. I would also be weary of the strength of a KAFO. the uprghts are 3/8" thick by 1" wide T6061 aluminum, 1/4 and 3/16 plate and the main bar under the foot plate is a unusual remnant piece of aluminum that has holes running down either side making it more resistant to bending that solid Aluminum...

Well I won't worry about patent on it but if I eventually get a good design and can figure out a good working design I may take commissions on them in the future. Measurements are crucial so either it will be a con only thing or I will need photos with a yard stick next to the person's leg for each measurement.

That looks incredibly sore to wear for too long on end. How does it feel?

I don't know yet. I am working on getting a bunch of straps made from an online orthopedic supplier... I am stuck till I can get the rest of the straps. I can tell you that joint and bracing placement are critical to comfort. I need to move the upper calf bracing back about 1/2 inch to get the knee hinge in right place. its too far back and when i straighten my leg it pushes into my thigh just behind the knee...

OH I need to get the other leg done as its near impossible to balance and stand on 1 digigrade leg and i need the other one to dial in the cabling. I will be making quite a few mods to the cable system once I get both legs test ready. need straps for other leg.

I have to cut and reweld the inner mounts on the foot plate due to the curve of a human leg. I got the pair to the point I could test walk in them and fount the inner hinge bolts sticking into my ankles and knees
