This is me on Henry and Jade on Monty. (And Archie in the BG)
Henry had to be sold because he was just too hard to handle. I recon my instructer would have kept him, but she had just had a baby so she wasn't up to trying to break him better. I miss him, but he's at a better yard now being trained to be better.
Note: He's only about 3-4 years.

I've never seen the point of a pelham, especially with a rounder. I've ridden with four reins, with curbs and snaffles alone, with halters and neck ropes, and I've come to the belief that a horse may tolerate or hate a particular type of bit, but in the end, they are only telegraphs. Henry reminds me of a Tennessee Walker I used to know (at least in build). He went fine in a curb, but his son absolutely hated it. Henry looks intelligent. I hope he's with a trainer who understands that bits are not for steering. I do just as well with a halter, when the horse's mind is with me.
I'm not an expert on reins/bits >.< I just kinda accepted what he wore.
Yea Henry was very intelligent, he was broken very very quickly for a horse of his age but he was never safe to ride...if that makes sence.
He was nice as a horse, as in he was kind gentle and nice to ride on roads, but as soon as he got into the feilds all he wanted to do was gallop and he actually fell backwards once after rearing and narrowly missed the girl who was on him. Shame Susie (Teacher) could have spent more time with him really, but I guess human babies take priority over horse babies :P
He'll be in a good place now, Susie loves all her horses and would never give a horse to someone who's untrust worthy, I think she still goes to see him now and again. ^^

Oh, it makes perfect sense. I've seen a lot of smart horses who weren't really connected with their riders, and that made the combination dangerous. Smart horses can actually be worse, because the key to safety is for the horse to believe in and trust their human. It's harder to convince a smart horse that they should let someone else lead. Really, too, four is just too young for a lesson horse. They're not even fully mature, and they don't have the mental focus and patience an older horse has. Even if she had spent more time with him, he just didn't have the maturity to belong to more than one person. It would be like pulling someone out of junior high and telling them they're going to teach first grade. It would be a disaster! I'm glad she did what was best for him.
