More and more I'm finding less and less to like about some of these characters. Ruth's always been a snarky one, but he's getting plain vindictive now. And D'shea's being a kibitzing ass; so he wouldn't say a word when T's being humiliated, but as soon as he's got Ruth by himself, he resorts to grade-school-level insults.
That said, as much of an ass as Ruth is and as much as he deserved that belt (and more), I am getting a certain vibe from him. I'm gathering he actually DOES have a grudging respect for T that he doesn't show the others (besides Sasha) because she's actually got the guts to stand up and do something when she thinks there's something wrong, be it with how she's being treated or how others are being (or about to be) treated. She doesn't let someone beat him up in the street because she knows it's the morally right thing to do (really she had no other motivation, given his behavior), and later, she doesn't let -him- disrespect her and get away with it. The others, however, seem perfectly comfortable to do nothing to stem Ruth's lousy behavior (outside of the occasional, impotent squawk of shock at how far he'd go). In that way, they're beginning to remind me a lot of the "group of 20-somethings off to party and have sex" in your typical modern slasher film; the group that brings along a jerk who behaves like a braying jack ass all the time but everybody just sort of rolls with it.

This is a great observation! And thank you for the comment. I like this kind of feedback! The fact that you're finding less and less to like about them I think is actually good! Heh, the characters aren't flawless and those flaws will show thru in due time, but only time will tell if they overcome them or cope. D'shea, like anyone can be an ass, and Josephine has some issues too and that will peek thru in the next scene.
Rest assured the next scene asks a big question: "Why do they hang out with Ruth in the first place?" ^_^
But that's going to take some time, I've finished this scene and my mind can refocus on commissions for the moment. I got a lot to catch up on. ^_^' Thank you.
