OK, now this is unequivocally AWESOME To start off with, how is it that you managed such dark values with typical mechanical pencil lead? I've found that it is difficult to impossible to get the rich, dark values that you seem to have rendered, especially on places like the tail-spade, the tips of the horns, inner-ear, claws, and so forth.
The smoothness of the whole thing is admirable, as well as the different textures achieved besides that. May I ask what sort of paper you used?
The anatomy is great, but I think I'm drawn to the reptile's face most of all. c: Such character! All those little details, like the scars for example, and the eye! I love how expressive it is.

i could have sworn up and down i replied to this comment when i got it! O_O. as for the dark values, sadly it's not that dark on the paper. i adjusted the scan so the values look how i intended them. what i did to fix the values on the paper is go over the darkest areas with a 5b pencil later on (once i found my pencil >.>;).
i usually draw on regular ol' cardstock. it's amazing for mechanical pencil work, even prismacolor markers. it holds up really well. just don't use colored pencil on it. >_< it turns out horrid in my opinion.
im really happy with both the scars and the eye. the shading on the scars happened on accident, actually, then i mimicked what i did for the rest.
if by some glitch, this is the second reply to this comment, i apologize. ^^;

Ahh, I see!
I wouldn't say cardstock is bad with colored pencils. This is colored pencil on cardstock, for example: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1196573/
*nods* Really good work you have here hon. Thanks for taking the time to reply to me and no worries, I do that too. XD And no, it seems to just be one reply, not two. :3

* nods * i guess i should say "for me" cardstock and colored pencils don't mix XD. i did a piece once that was strictly colored pencil on cardstock and i hated how it came out.

im really picky on texture. if it's textured paper, i expect texture. if it's smooth paper, i'd prefer it to be a smooth piece. the piece itself, as a picture, i liked for the most part, but the texture wasn't at all how i planned it. you know? unfortunately for me, i have a slight perfectionist complex >.>;;.
